Young family moving to Canberra, which suburbs are good to settle in?
My husband and I are in our early 30's, and we have a 3 yo boy. I was looking at the job sites to find out where most IT jobs are (hubby and I are both Programmers/Software Developers), so that we can live near those places. But most jobs advertised are from agencies.
A place with good preschools and child care centres is a plus.
And we would be relying mostly on public transport / bus.
We also want to live somewhere with retail shops and supermarkets.
And of course somewhere safe and family-friendly.
Would anyone of you recommend some suburbs that we can initially settle into, so that we can narrow down our choices and research?

Canberra is a very expensive city to live in. So it would be best if you look for somewhere cheap to live for a while until you find a house in a suburb you like. There is not much point signing a 12 month contract to rent an expensive property only to regret it later.
Find somewhere cheap and spend a couple of months looking for something you like.
I noticed most of your questions are about moving to Australia. The best thing you can do is do what I have written above. Don't listen to what other people say find out for yourself. Their is no need to spend a lot of money on accommodation straight away. Take your time.
